Hair Bows
So i am going to venture into the world of bow making, I THINK. My friend and i are going to make some this week, and if they are easy enough, I will be making them. i see so many cute ones out there, but I don't personally want to spend $15+ for a cute bow. And then multiply that by a few bows, and WOW, that can get expensive. If I was working, of course i would buy them for her. But being that I stay home, I think this would be a great project for us to try out.

TuTu's
Oh how cute this tutu is. My daughter wanted something to dress up in. And of course i have looked in the stores for dress up clothes, and even on clearance prices they want over $15. So when looking at them, I thought, "hey, I can make that". So i came home and made them I did. I made her this sparkle white one, and another one that is blue, black, silver and sparkle white.
Now I am thinking about making them and selling them at local craft shows. I wonder how many other mom's would buy them for their little girls. If anyone wants to chime in with what you would spend on one, and what colors you would like them in let me know. just want to get an idea of what others think. Would you want multi color, or one color.

Picture of a Diaper
Here is a more close up of the cute diapers. I am waiting for snaps to come in to start finishing up the ones that are already cut. I made this one without snaps or velcro, to be used with a snappi. This one will need a cover, but when you are just at home if you change your child often enough, no cover is needed. Then you go enjoy looking at the cute diapers you have. I can make these with a hidden PUL layer, so they can be used without a cover since the cover will be in them. That will make it an all in one.
I have started making pockets. I use pockets for my diapering needs and LOVE them. Sometimes I will use my diaper like the one pictured and pop a prefold in it, just for the extra protection if we are heading out.

Cloth Pads

After some researching I have decided to make cloth menstraul pads. Was something I hadn't thought about before. But since I use cloth diapers, I thought why not pads. I NEVER would have thought they were so popular. But it seems they are. They are quick and easy to make. I have yet to use them though. Since having my son, my period has not returned, but I will say I am excited about it. Everything I have read says they are super comfortable. Now of course, I will be finding cute material and not using fire trucks for them all. it's just I had that extra to experiment with the pattern
Looks like the washing is easy as well. Really similar to the diapers. You can use a wet or a dry pail system. You just wash and dry. Always use cold water otherwise the stains will set it.
I am working on a complete write up on the washing of diapers and pads, and will post in the next few days.

It never ends...........
It never seems to end. Every day there seems to be more and more on the to do list. Today I had no kids, and planned on getting to the sewing machine. I have about a dozen diapers all cut out and ready to sew up. Plus I wanted to get the training pants cut out, and try my hand at Cloth pads. I already have been messing with the design for the pads, and wanted to actualy do one completely up, and make sure it's all going to work.
Of course, Noah was up several times, so I didn't get up until 7.30. Then I had to get everyone fed and dressed. Grandma came to pick the kids up around 9. They were all set to go, but talked to her a few minutes. Dentist appointment, and errands and nothing seems to get done. At least i was able to get Noah's clothes changed out. he seems to be growing WAY too fast.
Well, I have about another 3 hours till the kids get home, but only an hour or so till hubby gets home. I am hoping to get at least the diapers sewn up in the next hour and placed up on facebook.

Doing bottles
So it seems that their really isn't much difference if he is getting a bottle or not. I thought there was, but it was just a fluke. I have noticed though that he will take a bottle, from everyone but me. He might take drink like 1/2 ounce if i have him but no more. He will not take the bottle, and cry, but once I start nursing he settles down and eats for like 10 minutes. So I know he is hungry he just doesn't want to take that bottle. Not when he can smell I am there. Well, at least I know he won't want to give up nursing anytime soon. Though I know the bottle is much easier to take.
How cute are these

Ok if I can figure out how to post pics on here, I will post pics of how cute diapers can be. I just finished making up a set for another mom, and are just too cute. Of course everytime I make a set my daughter wants them for her dolls. So they get ones made up for them as well. Bob and Sara are the dolls names, and they are both big dolls, that fit nb size baby clothes. So it's not a small diaper that they need. They need a regular full size newborn diaper. I am just so glad i know how to make them up. Otherwise, we would have some problem. I have been making her cloths and diapers for her water baby doll for a year now, and now it's on to the big dolls. I was just giving her clothes that my son outgrew, but of course take her to the fabric store and she wants everything in there for her dolls.

Fleece as Diaper Cover
So I had someone ask me if they can use fleece for Diaper covers. of course you can. Fleece doesn't take on moisture though it wicks it away. So you just have to be careful of changing your baby. If you don't change him often enough, the fleece will wick the moisture to the clothes the baby is wearing. At the beginning it's a good indicator of how often to change the baby. And once it happens a few times, you will know how often your baby needs to be changed.
My son I change him about every 3 hours. Sometimes it is more often, but on average I can go about 3 hours between changes right now.
I will say I LOVE using the fleece as covers. They have a much bigger selection than PUL, it is cheaper, and is much softer against the baby's skin.

Diaper Making
Oh the joys of making diapers for others. I spent yesterday working on making diapers for most of the afternoon. I made up 6 diapers that I need to send off. I also worked on a pattern to make training pants. i think I have that pattern done. Of course I was having to bribe Hannah with cookies to be my tester. Thankfully I got the pattern correct just as she was getting sick of being my tester. I was hoping to get to actually making one up from start to finish. But it seems as if Noah has other plans for his mom. Never fails when one falls asleep the other wants to get up.
Today's plan is working on the pattern for a one size diaper. I know I prefer a one size diaper, mainly for the cost purposes So I am thinking that's the next on the list to try out and make. i love my one size diapers. I can't wait to make those up for myself. So much more versatile as a diaper.

Training Pants
So i decided to try making Training Pants as well as diapers. i have time until my son needs them, BUT several people have been asking me. So Today or tomorrow I will have to give it a shot and see how they turn out.
i found some pull-ups from my daughter. She never really used them. I bought a pack, and she used them for night only, but she has NEVER had an accident at night, or nap time. Once it was decided she was ready to potty train, we got rid of the diapers and went straight to underwear No problems. Of course there is the accident here or there, but over all, she doesn't have accidents.

Making diapers
OH, how much I LOVE making my own diapers. The fabric at the fabric store is just so cute, and much bigger variety. The diaper store only has so much variety, but at the fabric store, WOW.
I am hoping to find people who want to purchase them, so if that's you, Leave me a comment and I will get back to you about making them for you. I am not looking to make money on them, I just want to encourage more moms to go cloth. I don't think there is much of a smell at all, as long as they are washed right. But if you go to cloth and there this is a smell, there are deodorizers you can buy for the diaper pail.

Bottles days 2, 3 and 4
Well, going to bottles seems to have helped out somewhat. So I think we are going to try for a few more days and see how he does. I definitely prefer to nurse though. Its just SOOO Much easier, than having to go heat up a bottle, when he is hungry. I do nurse at night, as I don't think I could make it down the stairs to get him a bottle at all.
For bottles I have decided to go with the Playtex drop ins. I used them for my daughter when we gave her a bottle. She seemed to really like them. I had kept them, and someone borrowed my 4 oz bottles, and of course now says she never did borrow them, and so now I have only 2. I really think this person sold them on me or gave them to someone in her family. Well not something I will dwell on. Eventually i will find some more 4 oz bottles. I could always go buy if I need to.
