Hard at work

I have been SUPER busy lately.  I have been serging up TONS of nursing pads.  I think I have around 4 doz pair.  Plus i have been busy making bibs, and spit rags and sandwich bags.

I have taken the last few days and not done too much though sewing wise.  Been working on cutting out more and more items though to get serged and sewn together.  I am doing a craft show in October.  A friend was going to go in with me on it, and just informed me today that she won't be able to.  That's fine, but now i have to make up MORE product to sell.  I am glad she at least told me now, when I have a month to get ready and add more stock.

I wasn't planning on doing too much more for the show, but i guess that's a good thing.  Since now I do have the time to make up more items.

I have to finish typing up the lalaloopsy patterns and scanning everything into the computer.  I have been looking at several sites to upload and sell the patterns at, but they want to double my price so they make the same money I do.  I find that a hard thing to do.  I would prefer to sell them at the lower price so people can afford all of them.  Not double the price on them.

What do to.

What do you do as a mother when your daughter is sitting their crying for a "real" best friend?  She is 3, and doesn't socialize with kids much.  She has the imaginary friend, which proves to be quite hilarious.  When she asks me to make dresses for her "friend", and then does say to me, "mom, you know she is just pretend, don't you".  That's after I tell her that I will make her shushi a dress.

This morning, she just started crying because she wants a real best friend.  I told her she can play with her brother, but he is only 1.  She told me, he can't be her best friend, because he can't talk like she does.

I have found a few playgroups for the school year, but nothing going on yet.  I have to wait several weeks for anything to start.  I have been trying to find more moms around my area but it seems everyone still wants to be in high school and be all "cliquey".

I was able to make her happy by suggesting she makes a quilt.  She has been wanting to use my new sewing machine.  So we pulled out our fabric and made a quilt.  She has the top looking really good.  I did the cutting, and she did all the sewing.  it went slow but that's ok.  we had fun together.  Now I will have to find something for the borders.  She is thinking she wants all different material in the border, like a scrappy border.  So we will have to see what I can find.

My son......

Well, my son is TRUELY a cloth boy.  We have been battling a HORRIBLE diaper rash turned yeast infection.  So we went to sposies last week. WELL one day after nap i went in their he had ripped off the diaper, and had pooped.  so you can imagine the mess that was in his bed, and all over.   Since he decided to play in it.

So I went and bought some g-diapers with the diposable inserts.  We were using those for 3 days with NO problems.  Today was a different story.  He got up from nap, RIPPED off the diaper again, and this time pulled out the insert and shredded it to piece.  Then he stood at the crib and in between the rails, pee'd on the floor.  Of course when I told his Dad, he was quite proud of the little guy.  hmm..... he wasn't the one cleaning it up.

BUT he went in for his 1 year check up and he is doing GREAT.  He is just shy of 24 lbs, and he is 33 inches.  He is almost as tall as his sister is, and she is 3 1/2.

YIPPEE. Lalaloopsy Patterns

So someone had asked me about making clothes for a lalaloopsy doll. My first question was, "what is the doll?" I had never heard of her. So I of course did a search and came upon the website. I did look at the doll, and had decided that none of the doll patterns I have will work. So I went to having to draft some patterns. I have done enough clothes making, that I felt confident in it. The only problem is I didn't have a doll.

Last weekend their was a sale I went to, and I got REALLY lucky. I found the doll, brand new for just $3. Seems the sell for around $20-$25 area. So I was SO excited about this find. The lady that asked about the clothes was going to send me her daughter's This worked out a lot better.

So this past week has been about designing my patterns. I FINALLY figured out several of them and today I made up some items from the patterns.
I made up a poncho, a pair of pants, and a shirt for the doll.  There are a few tweaks left to the pattern that I have to make.  But overall I am QUITE happy with the way they turned out.  Now to just write up the patterns and get them on the computer.  I will be selling the patterns, and the clothes for others, so if you are interested at all.

step4kids multiplication DVD review

I was so lucky to receive this for review.  My stepson has been having a LOT of issues with his multiplication tables.  We were working all school year on them, and he still couldn't seem to get the hang of them.  he was doing good with some of them.

Now this is not a super long video and it is quite excellent.  We have watched in every week, and my stepson now is doing EXCELLENT on all of his tables.  He is looking forward to going back to school now.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

My Sewing Machine

I was so bummed out this week. My sewing machine has been acting up big time lately. No matter what I have been sewing in the last few weeks the bottom thread just keeps bunching and looping. been super annoying. So I finally took the machine into the shop. Yup sure enough it had to be fixed. At least it was under warranty. But I hope it doesn't happen again. This was the whole reason I didn't want to go with an electric machine, but I REALLY do like my machine.

I am super excited thought. I took it into Family Sewing Center on Thursday around 3ish, and he called me back Saturday at 9 that it was fixed and I could come get it. So glad I took it myself. Had I let the shop I bought it at, send it to them, it would have been almost 2 weeks for me to get back. Just because the shop only picks up once a week there.

Winner of Trimsies

Congrats to Ashly Guyton for winning the Trimsies trainer. Please contact me with your choice of fabric. Once I have that, will take about 5 days to be made and shipped out to you.

Mommyhood

I saw this and had to post it. Just is WAY too true

Mommyhood
I changed a diaper...
....and changed another a half hour later.

I fed the baby....
.....and fed him again and again and again.

I took a potty break...
.....and helped someone else take four more.

I washed three loads of laundry....
.....and saw that I still had three more to go.

I vacuumed the kitchen....
.....and did that again two more times. That hour.

I played cars, trucks, trains, blocks....
.....and we've only gone through one-third of the toys we own.

Four naps have been taken today....
.....none of which have been mine.

I thought about what to make for dinner....
....and made breakfast instead.

I wore pajamas all day today....
....because I forgot to get dressed.

My boys wore pajamas all day....
....because I was too tired to dress them.

I hugged, kissed, and cuddled....
.....because I'm a mommy and that's what we do.*

*amongst all of the other things that I previously mentioned. Mommyhood is exhausting, but the last line makes it all worth it...most of the time. (KIDDING!)
