Microwave Peanut Brittle

The first guest post is by Sweet Lily delights.  She is an excellent baker.  You can find her making treats for a lot of people.  If you are interested in anything at all, check her out on facebook

So, it is the Holidays, and of course time to whip up some Peanut Brittle for those hard to shop for family members that you know are just going to LOVE them some PB.

This year was my 1st year making Peanut Brittle, and I hated it!!! It took too long over the stove, had to use a candy thermometer..blah, blah, blah. I do not know about you, but I do not have 1/2 hour to make something so simple when I have 20 bazillion other things. So I got to thinkin......

Gramma always said she had this AMAZING PB recipe that was microwave only!! Now that is my kind of recipe right there...So I got on google.com (my baby..lol) and of course, googled Microwave Peanut Brittle. Found this awesome recipe, and made it that night. NEVER, EVER will I make stove top Peanut Brittle again.

Now, I know...I share all of this, but do not tell you the recipe...well, here it is:

1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Karo Syrup/Corn Syrup
1 cup Peanuts (any type you would like)
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Butter
1 tsp Baking Soda

Directions:

Prepare an un-greased non stick cookie sheet (if you do not have a non stick, parchment paper over the sheet will do just fine)

In a Microwave Safe glass dish, add your sugar and corn syrup. Stir together as best you can. Microwave on high for 4-6 minutes (you will start to see it turn a yellow color).

Remove from microwave, add your peanuts, stir together, microwave for another 3-5 minutes. **Once you see the peanuts browning, take it out.

Then, add your vanilla and butter, and microwave for another 1-2 minutes.

Remove from microwave, quickly add your baking soda, stir together (your mixture will become foamy), then pour your mixture on to your cookie sheet and spread around. **make sure you move fast, this stuff hardens QUICK**

Let your Peanut Brittle sit for 15 minutes to 1/2 hour, and then break it into pieces, put it in a nice bowl or gift packaging and TADA!!! You got yourself some quick, easy, and yummy Peanut Brittle :-)

Santa makes VIDEOS

Did you know that Santa makes videos now? I didn't. This is sooo cool though. You put in the name and the elves will help santa decide if you were naughty or not. What a great way to help your kids stay good while on break.

Cloth mama pads

So there is talk about cloth diapers, but did you know about cloth mama pads.  Otherwise known as mama cloth.  It is becoming more and more popular.  Though still in the minority, more moms are switching.  I made the switch.  I never realize until after the switch that I was allergic to the disposable or paper pads.  Now that I have made the switch it's a HUGE difference.  Not only do I not have the reactions every month, but my entire Monthly Cycle has DRASTICALLY shortened.  And DRASTICALLY lighter.  DId you know that the chemicals in cloth pads actually PULL the blood out of you.  Yes that is why you cramp SO bad every month.  Those chemicals are not meant to be that close to your body.  Make the switch and you will see a HUGE difference.

So you wanting to make the change.

Why to go CLOTH

Christmas Time

Well it's less than a week away.  I think we are done with all the shopping.  We do it throughout the year.  That's a GREAT way to shop.  So we don't have to worry about all the rush in December.  We did have to finish up a few gifts this month.  Now we just have to wrap everything.  This month my shopping was with other Work at Home Moms (WAHM).  I Like to support my fellow WAHM's.  And the nice thing, is they ship to me.  So I still don't have to worry about all the crowds at all.

Who is all done with their shopping?

My Caring Cross Review

I was given a chance to review the Caring Cross.  It really is AMAZING.  Each one is unique in the grain of the wood.  When you get it, and just hold it for a few minutes.  Feel the shape and the size.  It really is a good size to toss into your pocket.  It is Excellent workmanship in the making of the cross.  They are made with olive trees from Bethlehem.  I think it's GREAT that these are made right there as well.  Each carver makes them, but don't worry they are paid well for their work.

When I held it and place in my pocket if was a reminder of my faith.  If I needed some guidance for something, it was quick to place my hand in my pocket and say a quick prayer.  And no one knew it was in my pocket.  Of course I did have to show it off.

Now you are wanting one.  Carrying cross.  They are running all sorts of GREAT deals.  you can pick them up for $5 each plus shipping.  Than if you want to purchase extra, the more you buy the better the deal.  They are already gift wrapped as well.  They have a gorgeous bag to come with them.

Now I wish I had known about these years ago when I was married.  I would have bought these up as a wedding favor.  They can come in a white bag for your wedding.  We know we enjoy giving favors out, but be realistic they end up in the garbage.  And i bet you spend $5 per person on wedding favors.  Well if you order a large quantitiy the price goes down.  So now you can give your guests a nice momento and something THEY WILL want to keep and cherish, instead of something they will throw away.

Now would you like to own one.  I am sure you will.
