Just frustrated.....

My daughter has been so excited about playing soccer this Fall.  We signed her up in July.  Well we had a call beginning of August that although we live in the town she is playing in, since we aren't in the city limits we have to pay more for her to play.  So we paid the extra fee the next day.  We never heard anything about her placement.

So since I had no phone numbers, I emailed them about when she was being placed on a team.  I never heard anything back.  I figured they were waiting until the school year started to start anything.  I planned on heading to city hall today to get the contact info.

Well, last night they sent out a mass email to all the soccer parents about volunteering for the concession stand at the games.  The games start THIS weekend.  So here games are starting and my daughter is still not on a team.  I am so upset about it.

I wrote the person back immediately at that email and the other one she posted in the email.  I am glad she wrote me back.  She did apologize and then told me that placement person is on vacation.  But she did place my daughter on a team.  If I don't hear from a coach tonight I have to call her back. This time I have a phone number.

I feel bad for her.  She doesn't really know anything about soccer, and she wants to learn.  So here everyone else on her team has gotten to know each other and learn things and she will know nothing.  Hopefully they will still have some practices and not just do games now.

They said they LOST her information.  Funny they knew how to contact me about the extra fee and they deposited that right away, but they couldn't contact  me to or put her on a team.  If she wasn't so excited I might have just asked for my money back.  Plus I told them I would help coach.  I wouldn't do it fully since I don't know much, But a lot of the little kids teams just need the extra parents around to keep everyone together.  And that I can do.

  1. Ugh :( I know the feeling. My son wanted so badly to play fall baseball, but the coaches never put a team together! It is so hard when our kids are disappointed. Hopefully things work out for her!

  2. It's a good thing kids have moms that shelter them from all the mistakes adults make!!!

I hope that your daughter will go in unaware that she is behind in practice. One good thing about volunteering to assist in coaching is that maybe you can schedule a few extra practice days. Most likely not all the kids will come and she can bond with her new teammates more efficiently.
