Bengtson's Pumpkin Farm

Growing up in the Chicago land area their aren't a lot of pumpkin patches. But their is Bengtson's. I grew up not far from them. I remember when it was a little store and restaurant, and we would go over there for breakfast at times. Now of course it's like everything else and being turned into Houses. So they had to change the location. It moved just around the corner. And in moving they were able to expand as well.

Now you go to Bengston's and they have a lot you can do. They have a few rides a Train, Frog Hopper, Honey Pots, Flying Frogs, Fun Slide, and Hayride. On the hayride you get to see the pumpkin launcher.  I have to say I haven't seen one before.  It is quite neat.  It uses the small pumpkins or gourds and launches them about a football field long.

They have this super cool cow there as well.  It's a strawberry cow.  She is painted a pale pink with strawberries all over her.  She is one of a kind.
My kids loved this cow.  It is Calamity Jane as a cow.  Full with lipstick and everything.

They loved the corn bins.  Where else do you get to play with your food.

And of course the BEST part of it, is the PIG races.  Yup they were great to watch.

  2. I've always wanted to take my kids to a pumpkin patch in the Fall and we just haven't made it. I love the strawberry cow! My 7 yr. old daughter would get the biggest kick out of that.

  3. We don't have anything like that where I live, but it seems like so much fun! I'll have to look and see if maybe somewhere in North Louisiana there is one so when my daughter has a child, we can go do this. I really love the strawberry cow!
